    Maharashtra State Veterinary Council

    In the State of Maharashtra, the Veterinary Council of India Act came into force from 1.8.1997. Under the Veterinary Council of India Act, 1984, the Maharashtra State Veterinary Council is a state-level autonomous body established under the Central Act. The working of this institute started from 26.6.1998 at Pune. As per the Government Resolution dated 31.3.2001, the office of this institute has been shifted to Nagpur from 6.7.2001. The first Body of Council of Maharashtra State Veterinary Council came into existence on 26.8.2009.

    Objectives:

    1. Under Schedule One and Two of the Indian Veterinary Council Act 1984 Statement Registration of qualified Graduate Veterinarians on their request
    2. Renewal of registration in every five years.
    3. Enrollment of postgraduate qualification.
    4. Issuance of No objection certificate to registered candidates transferring to other states as well
    5. registration of registered persons transferring from other states in the Register of State Council.
    6. Issuance of provisional registration certificate for internship in undergraduate period.
    7. Implementation and monitoring of various provisions of various sections of the Veterinary Council of India Act, 1984 and the rules made thereunder.
    8. Action regarding “Minimum Standard of Veterinary Education Regulations 1993”
    9. Monitoring of the “Registration Regulations, 1992”.
    10. To guide Animal Husbandry Department and government in providing information regarding the provisions of the Act.
    11. To guide and follow up the Government to amend the recruitment rules for Livestock Supervisor, Assistant Livestock Development Officer, Livestock Development Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Animal Husbandry, Joint Commissioner of Animal Husbandry, Additional Commissioner of Animal Husbandry and Commissioner of Animal Husbandry and other posts as per the provisions of the law.

    12. Filing a petition in the Hon. High Court / Hon.Supreme Court for the implementation of the provisions of the law, if necessary.

    Working and Responsibility

    To regulate the veterinary profession, to provide for the maintenance of registers of veterinary profession and matters connected therewith in accordance with the Veterinary Council of India Act, 1984.
